Yarumo is a project that consists of the experience design of the magazine The Plant, originally from Barcelona, whose central theme is based on the presentation of each plant represented in an issue of the magazine. It is focused on botany introduced in a simple and personal way, showing plants from different backgrounds and perspectives. According to this, the design of an installation that would be present in the contemporary art space Flora was made for the hypothetical case of the launch of the magazine The Plant in Colombia.
To achieve this, the Yarumo was chosen as the protagonist of this edition, due to its power and influence throughout Colombia, whose meaning is not only linked to culture but also to the stories that it evokes. In this way, this project seeks to invite the viewer to take the time to value this endemic species of Colombia, by understanding its relationship with the human being. Bearing this in mind, a curtain of leaves of Yarumo was created in a way that its silver color served as screen to project the stories of this plant. The narrative of this audiovisual piece was based on the research and the imaginary of the people around the Yarumo, where the visual and sound resources were created specifically for each moment of the story. The complement between the curtain of leaves and its narrative, made possible the creation of a space for contemplation that helped to establish an intimate relationship between the audience and the Yarumo.
